Soulganic’s Phosphene lands with vivid progressive soul, indie groove, and original music recorded with producer Scott Slagle.
We wrote Phosphene about seeing the unseen. That theme touched everything—lyrics, tones, pacing. Drums speak in low light; bass lines glow at the edges. Guitars smear into psychedelic soul halos, then snap clean for a chorus that feels like stepping through a doorway. Working with Scott Slagle again made the sessions feel like home and challenge all at once. The album arrived on Bandcamp first, then moved to the wider world a few weeks later.
The groove architecture carries weight. Horns bring color; synths and Moog threads from extended family add dimension. Lyrically, we aimed for clarity, images you could hold in your hand. The production kept organic values—room tone, bleed, living dynamics—while letting progressive soul ideas evolve naturally.
The record holds tight to Funky Indie Soul roots and invites jazz fusion changes to color the margins. Fans of indie soul, neo soul, and underground music hear echoes they love and paths that feel new. The closing tracks land like quiet fireworks, lingering after the last chord fades.
